The Energy Union show is a brand new Coldcut audiovisual production – a ground-breaking piece of VJ cinema about Intelligent Energy. The music is ‘Journeys by DJ’ style : a 21st century montage of kicking sounds drawn from many genres, woven together by the acknowledged Grandmasters of the eclectic electric mash-up. Across the tracks with Coldcut! At the bigger shows, featured quartets perform a string score, adding a live human dimension to the digital mixdown. The visuals -a beat-driven blend of borrowed, contributed footage and custom animation, build a narrative in 4 sections: Celebration, Caution, Solution, Action. It’s about the world we live in and our choices on where its going: Energy + Intelligence = Evolution is the equation to solve.

Coldcut are pioneers of VJing and the audiovisual cutup. Energy Union is their most ambitious AV production to date. Hollywood move over…the NEW new cinema is in town…this could be the first VJ film. The visuals will be presented on a custom giant black screen, this being part of Coldcut’ s ‘Project Black’ initiative: a number of techniques to achieve a projection effect 'beyond the screen'. The agenda of this supercharged AV piece of positive propaganda is to influence the audience. Yes, you read that correctly, this is blatant POSITIVE PROPAGANDA.

It’s an in ya face call to action that is highly Information dense, emotive, satirical, aggressive, uplifting. Only for the headstrong who are paying attention, the true Coldcut audience – an audience who are themselves influential movers, shakers and creators- opinion leaders who CAN make a difference….YOU.
